Hurting each other is inevitable in marriage and in parenting. What do we do with hurt when it affects us and the ones we love? If we let it linger too long, it will affect vulnerability, trust and living free in real relationships with each other. Humility is key here. Stepping into humility opens the door to forgiveness, the fact that we are forgiven which sets us free and gives us the courage to face the one we hurt. On the other side of the relationship, when we are hurt we can forgive which is the antidote to the toxicity that unresolved hurt will brew in our souls. Here is what pastor/author Max Lucado says about hurt.
